![]() ![]() I much preferred using the right stick to do it, but on this game the only option you get is to press A several times, to line up the power and accuracy. However, the actual kicking mechanics themselves aren't great. ![]() The kicking plays are actually really good, and there is a genuine chance you can block a kick on this game, which is new for Madden. It is really cool to hear the very latest commentary on a game you bought months ago, so hats off to EA for this. There has been a new commentary update and roster update every week, which I have received even without an Xbox Live Gold Membership. There are loads of other cool little features around the game - the uniform options are great, there are loads of customisable features, the franchise mode feels fresh and constantly engaging, the title menu looks good, and playing online has been without a hitch for me so far. Players look so much like players, every tackle and engagement abides by the laws of physics and looks awesome, but the biggest improvement is the CROWD. The graphics are incredible on the newest generation. Not sure if I'm a fan of the button engagement when beating the block, but it still feels like a good realistic battle if you decide to pass rush. The unrealistic "dive" mechanics which used to propel the player an unrealistically distance forward have gone, and it is just as easy to make big mistakes as it is to make huge plays. Nothing is as set in stone, anything can happen on a play. If a running play gets stuffed initially, the RB can still make something happen sometimes. But on this game, you can throw the ball to a receiver who is tightly covered, and they actually fight for the ball in a realistic way that no Madden game before has captured. If a receiver was well covered, there was essentially no point in throwing to them. On previous Madden games, if a run initially got stuffed, there was a 99% chance the play would end then. Never before has there felt as if the player has a truly infinite number of possibilities for a play. It truly feels as if you're controlling a real human player. They've achieved a great balance with this, which was something which made many previous Madden games feel too much like video games. Player movement mechanics are smooth enough to make playing a very enjoyable and coherent experience, yet clunky and "human" enough to make it seem ultra-realistic. Even still, this game feels like a huge leap forward. I haven't bought a Madden game since Madden 25 for the previous generation console, so this review is written from the perspective of somebody relatively new to the new consoles and the more recent Madden games.
